LA IN JULY!

Alexis has been working for the past year on the acting program Hollywood Immersive.
The brainchild of Melbourne casting agent Lilly Dawson. Hollywood Immersive connects and inspires actors from all over the world, taking them to Los Angeles.

Students spend ten days in LA studying with preeminent acting coach Margie Haber at her studio in West Hollywood. Our aim is to encourage and help young actors get the most out of their potential and have a taste of what it’s like to be a working actor in LA.

During the ten day program the students learn:
-audition techniques
-cold reading techniques
-dialect coaching.
They are introduced to agents, managers and casting agents, along with other industry professionals including directors and working actors.

We have successfully run three programs over the last year, and have enjoyed wonderful results for participants both professionally and personally.

This is a unique opportunity for any young person serious about pursuing acting professionally.

Our next program is in July and we have a whole lotta talent joining us!

48 hr film project Melbourne

The 48 Hour Film Project's mission is to advance filmmaking and promote filmmakers. Through its festival/competition, the Project encourages filmmakers and would-be filmmakers to get out there and make movies. The tight deadline of 48 hours puts the focus squarely on the filmmakers—emphasizing creativity and teamwork skills. While the time limit places an unusual restriction on the filmmakers, it is also liberating by putting an emphasis on "doing" instead of "talking."

In collaboration with Charlie Porter from Burning House and Kristjan Knigge from GR8 Films we made a short film (4 min) called "In Loving Memory" about a mistake easily made in an awkward situation. The short film was screened at ACMI and got selected into the finals (embedded video coming up soon...)

I’VE SEEN FILMS - INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
Milano, September 24 - October 3, 2009

With 231 works from 70 countries, and with more than 100 premieres, ‘I’ve Seen Films’ International Film Festival, founded by Rutger Hauer and organized by the non-profit organization ‘Rutger Hauer Starfish Association’ provides one of the largest and more innovative celebrations to film and culture in the world. All the International Competition’s selected short films are screened during the Festival’s 10-day period in the Gnomo Milano Cinema , Centre Culturel Français and THECA venues.
It is the first festival in the world whereby a film competition is judged by an International Jury formed by so many notable artistic talents and experts of the cinematography sector. The 2009 Jury members are : Ridley Scott, Robert Rodriguez, Lech Majewski, Christopher Nolan, Miranda Richardson, Paul Verhoeven, Eugenio Cappuccio, Anton Corbijn, Bill Bristow, Daniela Catelli, Teresa Cavina, Roberto Nepoti and Rutger Hauer.
I’ve Seen Films, directed by PierPaolo De Fina, has held the distinction of being the first short film festival to screen the authors works in a masterful, high-definition digitalized version.
With Microcinema Digital Network and the support of the European Space Agency, the ‘I’ve Seen Films’ competing films are broadcast to Microcinema’s network theaters via satellite and the Award Evening is aired live. Many of the films in the program are European or Italian premieres and have been assigned international acknowledgements, with their interpreters winners of Emmy and Academy Awards. The films in the Festival’s program are in the fiction, documentary, animation, experimental and videoclip categories, with a special ‘Social Awareness’ category. All of these categories are represented in each Festival screening day.

Apart from the International competition we are proud to announce that twenty of the shorts that are produced during the 2009 master class will be screened at the festival during 2 special event evenings with Rutger Hauer and Lech Majevski on September 30th and October 2nd.

From June 18th through 28th 2009 the Rutger Hauer Filmfactory organises for the third time a ten-day international Masterclass in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in which actor and filmmaker Rutger Hauer shares his knowledge, vision and passion for the art of filmmaking with thirty ambitious filmmakers from all over the world. In ten days they make 12 short films under the inspired leadership of Rutger Hauer and a team of international experts.

During the Masterclass the participants will be formed in teams consisting of a director, cinematographer, producer, actor(s) and editor. Together they form a production team. In ten days each team produces two short films that will be premiered at the end of the Master class. While going through the process of making both films, the participants learn to get rid of the more conventional ways of filmmaking and thus learn to find their own personal path in filmmaking. Their flexibility and ability for both creative thought and collaboration will be tested and challenged by numerous obstacles and unexpected turns.

In 2007 Alexis played the role of “Tanya” in the Tony Rogers film “RATS and CATS”.

synopsis: Actor Darren McWarren starred in soap, mini-series and film before destroying his career with a series of indiscretions... Now McWarren is out of the industry and living in a small town in Western Victoria he can do whatever he wants. When a journalist decides to write a "Where are they now" profile on McWarren, he finds the former star has become a modern day Errol Flynn. The local girls want to fornicate with him and their fellas want to fight him. He mightn't have found love - but it's the next best thing.

Made by the same team that brought the award winning series “Wilfred” to the small screen, “RATS and CATS” was screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival, on SBS and in 2009 was screened at the South by Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.
